The schools joining the Unified Champion Schools (UCS) program are:

  • Motithang Higher Secondary School

  • Dechencholing Higher Secondary School

  • Changangkha Middle Secondary School

  • Loselling Middle Secondary School

  • Sherabgatshel Primary School

Together, these institutions represent 6,087 students. By committing to UCS, they are demonstrating how powerful change can be when communities work side by side.

Empowering Students Through Unified Sports

As part of this shared journey with Special Olympics Bhutan:

  • Sports instructors have been trained to lead Unified Sports.

  • Schools have been equipped with sports resources to strengthen inclusion.

  • Every student, regardless of ability, gets to learn, play, and grow together.

Dasho Dechen Wangmo, President of Special Olympics Bhutan, highlighted the significance:
“Inclusion is a team effort. Together, we are winning! By bringing students, teachers, and communities together, we are creating opportunities that will inspire generations to come.”

Historic Milestone for Bhutan

The event marked a landmark step forward:

  • Memoranda of Understanding were signed, and appointment letters presented, officially designating the five schools as pilot UCS schools.

  • Sports equipment handover empowers these schools to spearhead inclusive sports initiatives and prepare student-athletes for Bhutan’s first Unified Champion Schools Competition in December 2025.

This milestone reflects Bhutan’s enduring commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunities for all students, proving that when communities come together, every child can thrive.
